A testimony from one of our staff members after a recent conference prayer call.
Brother Don!
Thank you for your kind words. Certainly, God's Spirit was moving in a great and powerful way during camp!
Thanks again for being there with us- I believe that was very important to everybody.
I appreciate your letter to Pastor Dave as well. He is a wonderful man, and I hope that I can introduce you to him and to our church family in the future.
I want to share something personal with you (feel free to forward if you would like). My spirit was touched in a wonderful way this morning as we joined together from across the globe to pray. What a great time. This morning I drove to a near park which sits high above Midland - it overlooks a lake area which wildlife frequently visit. (My cell phone signal is much better there than at our house).
As I waited for our 10am start time- I watched a small group of whitetail deer- a doe and her two fawns stood up from their bedding area next to the water. My mind went to Psalm 42:1, "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. Where can I go and meet with God?" This scene set my spirit soaring as it really illustrates the need that we all have to be with God. This is the need which these hockey players sense- and try to meet in so many different ways. This is the need that our ministry is trying to meet through reconciling the relationships between the players and their Creator. This is how God has made us! Jesus is the living water that we drink and never thirst again.
Then, Don, as you began to pray your quoted Psalm 36- and it was a narration of what I was watching.
"Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
your justice like the great deep.
O Lord, you preserve both man and beast,
How priceless is your unfailing love !
Both high and low among men
find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
(right at this point- a Bald Eagle flew up the hill toward me and soared about 10 feet right over over my head!
The Eagle's great wings were spread wide open- and yes, there was a shadow cast down on me!)
They feast on the abundance of your house;
You give them drink from your river of delights .
For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light."
Don, God is with us. He has heard our prayers. As the Psalm reminds us: God loves us; He is faithful- righteous and just; provides for us; He is our refuge-protector- defender; He blesses us; and gives us eternal life through the light of His Word- Jesus.
My faith has been strengthened through our time together and through God's presence.
For HIS glory, always....
